Hand-poked Ink;
…for the sacred sensitive
Kira McCaig is a multidisciplinary artist, tattooer, pianist/composer based in Melbourne (Naarm), Australia.
“My tattoos are organic, abstract languages that connect the intimate places on the body.
These tattoos are environments to explore, to question and evoke emotion. Art for the enquiry then inked for the personal expression of that which you see.
Tattooing is a form of play; something you identify with and explore through personal expression as a means of creativity. Not only as an external art piece to admire, but as moving art that you are.
: The self… is a creative act :
Inking the body is just one form of the will to choose, to create meaning. Knowing that even in something that seems permanent, the meaning always belongs to change.
This is what I love about abstract tattoos… is that even in its conception, its visually ambiguous and likely to grow with you.
Once arrived into change, it still belongs.”
